Urban-Schwartz engagement

Eddie and Lori Urban are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Abbey Urban of Bowling Green, to Michael W. Schwartz of Bowling Green. Michael is the son of Marty and Joyce Schwartz of Marblehead.

Abbey is a 2007 graduate of Port Clinton High School. She received her Bachelor of Science in education in 2011 and received her Master’s in Reading in 2014 from Bowling Green State University. She is employed as an Intervention Specialist at Mohawk Local Schools.

Michael is a 2008 graduate of River Valley High School. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education in 2014 from Bowling Green State University. He is employed at Maumee City Schools as a long-term substitute for Physical Education.

The couple will be married on July 17, 2015 in Port Clinton.


Judith Carol Carpenter Nov. 27, 1941-Dec. 14, 2014

Judith Carol Carpenter, 73, of Port Clinton, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, December 14, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born November 27, 1941 in Oak Harbor, the daughter of Herbert and Laura (Shaffer) Mosley.

A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 18, at Erie Shores Assembly of God Church, 220 South Gill Rd., Port Clinton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Erie Shores Assembly of God Church.  Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, assisted the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at


Ruby Irene Travillian Oct. 20, 1924-Dec. 11, 2014

Ruby Irene Travillian, 90, of Port Clinton, died peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, December 11, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky. She was born on October 20, 1924.

Visitation was held on Saturday, December 13, from 8 a.m. until funeral services at 9:30 a.m. at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, with Pastor Jimmy Comstock officiating. Burial followed at Castalia Cemetery in Castalia.

Ronald William Blackburn Aug 15, 1934-Dec. 5, 2014

Ronald William Blackburn was born in Port Clinton, Ohio on August 15, 1934, the son of Douglas C. Blackburn, and Beverly Blackburn Riedmaier and stepfather, Harold (Whitey) Riedmaier, who all preceded him in death.

Ron passed away after a brief illness on December 5, 2014.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Essie, who he married on December 25, 1982, their children, Becky (Gary) Quisno, David (Sharon) Blackburn, Douglas (Tami) Blackburn, Robin (Don Greenberg) Sandenburgh, Polly (Ged) Foley, Sally (John) Thomason; Grandchildren Adam (Kristin) Quisno, Mandy (Ian) Formaz, Annie Quisno, Benjamin (Sonia) Blackburn, Bailie, Breezie and Katie Blackburn, Drew and Farin Blackburn, Jamie, Elizabeth and Jake Greenberg, and Clare Foley, and three great grandchildren, Alexis, Sabrina and Emma Blackburn.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy; Essie and Ron’s son, Eric Sandenburgh, and his parents.

Joyce E. Winke, 79, of Fairview, PA, passed away, Sunday, November 30.  She was born April 24, 1935 in Lakeside Ohio, the daughter of Edward L. and Wilda C. (Eberly) Diffany.

Kathryn Virginia Wohlers Nov. 30, 1921-Dec. 3, 2014

Kathryn Virginia Wohlers, 93, a lifelong resident of Oak Harbor, passed away in her sleep, with her caregivers, as she was taken by the angels to be with her Lord unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, December 3, at her second home in Port Clinton.

Born on November 30, 1921, on the family farm in Salem, Oak Harbor, the daughter of John Henry and Clara Rosetta (Druckenmiller) Wohlers.

Kathryn graduated from Salem Oak Harbor High School, Class of 1939, as Valedictorian.  She played basketball in a 1940 tournament and competed in the 120 meter hurdles track event.  Kathryn went to the Davis Business College and began her career with Hayward, Inc. shortly thereafter.  She had a dedicated 70 year long career as a legal secretary, retiring in October 2012.

Vernon S. Zenser, 93, of Oak Harbor, died Sunday evening, November 30, at Foundation Park Alzheimer's Care Center in Toledo.  He was born December 31, 1920, in Frenchtown, Carroll Township, Ottawa County, Ohio, to Oliver F. and Mabel (Kulow) Zenser.

Visitation will be Friday, December 12, from 2-8 p.m., with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor.  The Oak Harbor Masonic Lodge #495 F&AM will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.   Vern was a life member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, 165 Toussaint St., Oak Harbor where funeral services will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 13.  Burial will be in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.  Following the service at the cemetery, a luncheon will be served in the social room of the church.   The family has suggested memorials for Vernon to Shrine Children’s Hospitals, St. Paul United Church of Christ, Heartland Hospice of Toledo, Ohio; or the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at
