Eric Leon Mowka Mar. 20, 1961-Jul. 25, 2015

Eric Leon Mowka passed away unexpectedly on July 25. Born March 20, 1961, to Leon and Rosalie Mowka, Eric grew up in Toledo and graduated from Whitmer High School. He was on the wrestling team and enjoyed performing in the Whitmer gymnastic circus. In his youth he won many power lifting competitions and won the title of Mr. Teenage Toledo for bodybuilding. Weightlifting was a lifelong passion. He went on to pursue a career as an electrician. He was proud to be a certified electrician and member of the IBEW Local 8. The principals of brotherhood and loyalty were ingrained in his personality. He was very good at all things electrical and mechanical and was always more than willing to lend a helping hand.  He also loved, fishing, boating and traveling.


Clyde V. “Uncle Bud” Zunk

Clyde V. “Uncle Bud” Zunk, 81, of Oak Harbor died Saturday, August 22, at his residence.  He was born on June 26, 1934 in Clay Center, OH, to George and Bessie (Amsler) Zunk.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m.  The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Bill Hatfield at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, with military graveside services.  Memorial contributions for Clyde may be given to the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church or the Luther Home of Mercy.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at


Roberta Kay Hartman

Roberta Kay Hartman, 70, of Oak Harbor, died Tuesday, August 18, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.  Arrangements are pending at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor.


Dawson Phillip Frisch

Dawson Phillip Frisch, newborn son of Trent and Tiffany (Greer) Frisch passed into God’s arms on August 12, 2015.  Dawson is survived by his parents, grandparents: Joe and Joann Frisch of Catawba Island, Jim (Beth) Greer of Port Clinton, Vicki Greer of Oak Harbor; great-grandma: Caroline Burr of Port Clinton; Uncles and Aunts: Ryan (Bonnie) Greer, Jake (Gretchen) Frisch, Brad Frisch, Shannon (Jason) Kadlec.
Private graveside services were held at Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton with Father James Brown officiating.  Memorial contributions may be given to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1745 Indian Woods Circle # 130, Maumee, OH 43537 or The Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 E. Roger Dale Rose Dec. 9, 1954-Aug. 11, 2015

Roger Dale Rose, 60, of Kansas, passed away Tuesday, August 11, at his daughter’s home surrounded by his family. Roger was born December 9, 1954 in Sandusky, the son of Billy L. and Vivian V. (Silverwood) Rose.

Janet W. Lorentz Nov. 8, 1928-Aug. 1, 2015

Janet W. Lorentz, a longtime resident of Catawba Island died, Saturday, August 1, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Home in Port Clinton.  She was born, November 8, 1928 the daughter of Edward and Helen Wright of Fostoria, OH.  A graduate of St. Wendelin’s High School in Fostoria, she then studied art at the Ohio State University.  After a resort hospitality career in Bermuda and Montreal, Canada, she moved to Catawba Island in 1973.  She owned and operated Studio 53 on Catawba for several years and had her personal art work displayed at the Toledo Museum of Art early in her career.
