Port Clinton boys lose to Woodmore

Woodmore 68, Port Clinton 59

Behind 23 points from senior Donny Bowen, the Woodmore Wildcats defeated Port Clinton, 68-59, in non-conference action.

After the Redskins outscored Woodmore, 17-12, in the first period, the Wildcats bounced back, outscoring the ‘Skins, 24-6, in the second quarter to take the lead for good. With a 36-23 lead at halftime, pushed the outscored the ‘Skins, 13-11, in the third quarter before holding off a Port Clinton rally in the fourth quarter.

With the win, Woodmore improves to 2-2. The ‘Skins, meanwhile, fall to 0-3.

Bowen led all scorers with 23 points and was complemented by Jake Lewandowski and Brad Flick, who finished with 16 and 12 points, respectively.

The difference in the game was the Wildcats’ ability to get to thefree-throw line. Woodmore shot 28-of-37 (75.7%) from the charity stripe while Port Clinton connected on 7-of-14 (50%) free throws.

Port Clinton was led by Stubblefield, who had 13 points, and Kalib Shiets and Moore, who finished with 12 and 10, respectively.

The ‘Skins return to action on Thursday when they travel to Castalia to face the Margaretta Polar Bears.
