Port Clinton Boys Defeat Oak Harbor

Port Clinton Boys tennis took on Oak Harbor today in a SBC Conference match at Oak Harbor Wednesday.  The Redskins prevailed and improved their record to

5-1 (2-0) with a 4-1 score.  Oak Harbor fell to 1-3 (0-1)

Matheus and Eli played a long tough match that could have gone either way, the second set was particularly close with both guys having set multiple set points before Eli took the set.  In the third, Matheus stormed back from down 4 - 3 to pull out the win.  2nd singles was equally exciting as Noah stormed back from a first set loss to win in the third set.  Max Mercuio's wealth of experience served him well as he cruised past Dane who was making his varsity debut.  Matt and Jeff played an all around excellent match to win.  Leandro and Ryan suffered another tough loss.

Dane Puckett (OH) 6-1, 6-0, Doubles: Matt Fillmore/Jeff Griffin (PC) def. Doug Pennington/Matt Rayburn 6-1, 6-0,  Bryce Rubie/Zach Bolen (OH) def. Leandro Papa/Ryan Norgard (PC) 6-2, 6-3

JV Action:

 Ellis and Tristan won a good match at top JV doubles and played excellent.  Steven and Joe had a tough loss.  Cameron played well and picked up his first singles victory.  Avery played great, getting a tie against a top JV player.

Port Clinton next plays at the Fremont Ross Invitaional, Friday at 9:00am.
