Redskins rally, hold off Rockets late

Despite a poor first quarter that saw them score just four points, the Port Clinton Redskins rallied to defeat their arch-rival Oak Harbor 47-44 on Friday night.

Trailing 19-16 at halftime, Port Clinton (3-0, 1-0 SBC) took control of the game by outscoring the Rockets (1-2, 0-1 SBC) 23-8 in the third quarter to take a 39-27 lead heading into the final period. Stefan Daniels and Tytan Rumball led the way, scoring 18 of the team’s 23 points in the quarter.

Oak Harbor was able to make a run in the fourth quarter outscoring the Redskins 17-8 and cutting the deficit to two points with just under a minute to play, but Port Clinton was able to hold on for the win.

Drew Fodor and Carter Rumball led the ‘Skins with 10 points apiece, Daniels finished with eight points and Tytan Rumball had six points. The Rockets were led by Tyler Sievert, who scored 10 points, and Derek Wood and Paul Shay finished with six points apiece.

Port Clinton 57, Woodmore 49

In a back-and-forth game that saw momentum switch hands a number of times, Port Clinton was able to take charge in the fourth quarter to defeat Woodmore 57-49 in non-conference action.

Holding a 39-38 lead after three quarters, the Redskins took control and outscored the Wildcats 18-11 in the final period to claim victory.

With the game tied at 14 after one quarter, Port Clinton outscored Woodmore 14-9 to take a 28-23 lead into the half before the Wildcats outscored the ‘Skins 15-11 in the third period to cut the deficit to one.

Nathan Stubblefield and Dylan Webb led Port Clinton with 13 points apiece and Stone Scott and Drew Fodor scored 10 and seven points.
