Danbury drops first two games of the year

Dominic Manuella scored a game-high 20 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Lakers fell to Ottawa Hills 70-48.

The Green Bears, a regional finalist last season, had five players finish in doubles figures led by Geoff Beans and R.J. Coil who had 18 and 16 points. Ottawa Hills led 22-10 after the first quarter and took a 44-22 lead into the half before the teams battled to a 26-26 tie in the final two quarters.

In addition to Manuella’s 20 points, John Rhodes had nine and Ryan Chapman finished with five.

Old Fort 85, Danbury 40

Competing against one of the area’s best teams, Danbury fell behind early and lost 85-40 to the Old Fort Stockaders.

Hunter Perry scored 30 points to lead all scorers and Jon Lotycz chipped in with 14 as Old Fort took a 20-8 lead after one quarter before putting the game out of reach at halftime by taking a 51-19 lead.

Dominic Manuella had 12 points and Hunter Stinchcomb and Keegan Rakosky scored six points apiece.
