Rockets drop two straight, look to rebound

After starting the season 4-0, the Oak Harbor Rockets fell to Clyde 72-37 in Sandusky Bay Conference action on Friday.

The Fliers, who advanced to the Division II State Semifinal last season, took control early outscoring Oak Harbor 30-16 in the first quarter before pushing the lead to 49-23 at halftime.

Amanda Cahill led all scorers with 21 points, Kelsey Michaels had 16 and Breanne Michaels chipped in with 13.

Andrea Cecil led the Rockets (4-2, 2-1 SBC) with 14 points and Athena Eli scored 7. 

Bellevue 64, Oak Harbor 42

Holding a six-point lead at halftime, Bellevue outscored Oak Harbor by 14 points in the third quarter to take control before defeating the Rockets 64-42 in non-conference action last week.

Holding a 31-25 lead at the half, the Lady Red outscored Oak Harbor 17-3 in the third quarter to blow the game open.

The Lady Red, one of the area’s best teams, got a game-high 22 points from Carly Santoro and 12 points from Makala Daniel. 

Andrea Cecil led the Rockets with 14 points and Emma Barney and Maddy Rathbun finished with six points apiece.

The Rockets host St. Mary CC and travel to Sandusky to face Perkins on Saturday.
