Perkins defeats Oak Harbor, 48-28

Perkins departed Friday night's game at Oak Harbor with a 48-28 victory over the Rockets, but it was a well-earned, hard-fought win that the Pirates are happy to have after being tested.

Oak Harbor (4-5, 3-3 SBC) scored on its first two possessions to take a 7-0 and 14-7 leads, respectively, in the first quarter before the Pirates rallied to take the lead for good at 21-14 on a 64-yard scamper by running back Dale Irby with 9:28 remaining in the first half. Perkins (9-0, 6-0) pushed the lead to 41-14 after scoring three touchdowns in the third quarter, though the Rockets did fight back to make it interesting.

Danbury loses to Gibsonburg, prepares for Hilltop

Unfortunately, Danbury has run into two teams in each of the last few weeks that are playing some of their best football of the year.

Facing a Gibsonburg unit that put up 64 points in its previous game, the Lakers fell, 63-21, to the Golden Bears to drop to 2-7 and 1-5 in the Toledo Area Athletic Conference. Gibsonburg, meanwhile, has won three of its last four games and is now 5-4 and 4-2 in the TAAC.

Port Clinton falls to Huron, 48-8

On Friday night, Port Clinton went up against one of the Sandusky Bay Conference's best teams and found out just how difficult it is to defend a player like Cody Thompson.

The senior quarterback, who is headed to the University of Toledo next year on a football scholarship, had 203 yards of total offense and scored three touchdowns in leading the Tigers to a 48-8 victory at Kalahari Field at Huron Memorial Stadium.
