The Mitten Tree, a Beacon Holiday Tradition, goes up this week. Once again, we are asking for contributions of gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, etc. Our goal is the same every Holiday Season, so please help us keep hands, heads and hearts warm this winter for needy children in Ottawa County. The Mitten Tree is located at the entrance of The Beacon, 205 SE Catawba Rd. in the Beacon Place Business Center (SR 53 North). Thanks.
This Saturday is the annual “Kids for Christmas” fundraiser at Mr. Ed’s on West Lakeshore Drive in Port Clinton. It began back in 2008 as a way for Ed Fitzgerald and his family to give back to the community. 100% of all donations are used to provide families in the area with help with holiday gifts for their children in addition to help with a holiday meal. Last year they raised over $19,000. It all begins at 10 a.m. with the warm-up for the Ohio State-Michigan game. Mike “Mad Dog” Adams follows the game with a special performance in the midst of a live auction. And don’t forget Ed’s famous “Hobo Stew”.
