Danbury drops first two games of the year

Dominic Manuella scored a game-high 20 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Lakers fell to Ottawa Hills 70-48.

The Green Bears, a regional finalist last season, had five players finish in doubles figures led by Geoff Beans and R.J. Coil who had 18 and 16 points. Ottawa Hills led 22-10 after the first quarter and took a 44-22 lead into the half before the teams battled to a 26-26 tie in the final two quarters.

Port Clinton wins first two league games

Playing an inexperienced Margaretta club, Port Clinton took advantage and defeated the Polar Bears in convincing fashion, 65-25, in their first conference game of the season.

The Redskins, who led 35-18 at halftime, controlled the contest throughout. Emily Ashley led the way with 17 points and Tiffany Colston and Hope Thorbahn finished with 16 and 13 points, respectively.

Redskins rally, hold off Rockets late

Despite a poor first quarter that saw them score just four points, the Port Clinton Redskins rallied to defeat their arch-rival Oak Harbor 47-44 on Friday night.

Trailing 19-16 at halftime, Port Clinton (3-0, 1-0 SBC) took control of the game by outscoring the Rockets (1-2, 0-1 SBC) 23-8 in the third quarter to take a 39-27 lead heading into the final period. Stefan Daniels and Tytan Rumball led the way, scoring 18 of the team’s 23 points in the quarter.
