Port Clinton wins first two league games

Playing an inexperienced Margaretta club, Port Clinton took advantage and defeated the Polar Bears in convincing fashion, 65-25, in their first conference game of the season.

The Redskins, who led 35-18 at halftime, controlled the contest throughout. Emily Ashley led the way with 17 points and Tiffany Colston and Hope Thorbahn finished with 16 and 13 points, respectively.

Redskins rally, hold off Rockets late

Despite a poor first quarter that saw them score just four points, the Port Clinton Redskins rallied to defeat their arch-rival Oak Harbor 47-44 on Friday night.

Trailing 19-16 at halftime, Port Clinton (3-0, 1-0 SBC) took control of the game by outscoring the Rockets (1-2, 0-1 SBC) 23-8 in the third quarter to take a 39-27 lead heading into the final period. Stefan Daniels and Tytan Rumball led the way, scoring 18 of the team’s 23 points in the quarter.

Rockets girls open the season with two wins

Andrea Cecil and Emma Barney combined for 44 points in Oak Harbor’s 61-45 win over Genoa last week. The victory helped move the Rockets to 2-0 on the season. Barney scored 23 points, including three 3-pointers, and Cecil finished with 21 as she flew up and down the floor to get high-percentage shots.

Oak Harbor controlled his one throughout, grabbing a 19-13 lead after one quarter before pushing the advantage to 33-22 at halftime. Ciara Albright led the Comets (1-2) with 18 points and Haley Pickard finished with 15.
