Redskin bowlers split matches with Eastwood; girls set another record

Port Clinton hosted Eastwood at Star Lanes at the Harbor in Port Clinton Tuesday and the teams split matches.

The Lady Redskins, undefeated in 7 matches, and 5-0 in the Northern Ohio Bowling Conference, set another school record with a 5 game baker score of 969, breaking the old mark of 948.

The Lady ‘Skins totaled 2586 to the Eagles (3-3) 2382.

Alysia Zoeller led Port Clinton with games of 203-182. Jozlynn Seamon 202-134, Eryn Binder 164-162 and Sam Stroupe 146-165. Other team members are Reilly Wittman, Katelyn Chapman, Kassidy Mahler, Morgan Wojchiechowski and Jordan Gresh.

“Our girls keep making a good effort at improving as the season goes along,” said Coach Bob Black. “We continue to work on arm-swing, releases and especially focus on each shot. Team average is around 850 and each player has room for improvement. I think we’re ready for the conference tournament this weekend.”

Eastwood improved to 5-1 in conference play with a 2799-2497 win over the Redskins (0-7, 0-5).

Cameron Bice led the Redskins with 178-238 and Kordell Blankenship 205-205. Shelby Radloff a 180 and Alex Camerato a 148.

“The boys are improving. This was their highest total of the season, after starting out with a 2034,” said Coach Black. “Cameron and Kordell stepped up with their best scores and we’ve been waiting for that to happen. We are young and inexperienced (4 sophomores, 1 freshman) and sometimes it takes a while for them to understand what we coach and they buy in. Shelby has been a steadying influence on them and has improved over 30 pins from last year.”

The NOBC Tournament is at Tri County Bowl in Woodville Friday with girls teams competing at 5 p.m. and the boys teams bowl Saturday at 1 p.m.

Redskin bowlers take on Tornadoes

Port Clinton Redskins bowlers split matches with the Tiffin Columbian Tornadoes in a Northern Ohio Bowling Conference match at Star Lanes at the Harbor Thursday.

The Lady Redskins came out firing with a 912 first game and followed with 830 and added 835 in baker for a 2576 total. The Lady Tornadoes rolled 620-629+616 in baker for 1865.

“Our goal is to improve each time out, especially our spare shooting,” said Coach Bob Black. “The girls are really focusing and making a great effort. Eryn Binder has really improved her spare shooting.”

Senior Alysia Zoeller led the Lady Skins with 198-194 for a 392 set. Sophomore Jozlyn Seamon rolled 211 in a 354 set, senior Sam Stroupe a 224 game, junior Reilly Wittman 179 for 339 and senior Kassidy Mahler a 168.

The Tornadoes reversed things in the boys match rolling 1017-888 and 1009 in baker for 2914 to the Redskins 798-700+650 in baker for 2148.

“We are very young and inexperienced. Not all have bought in yet to what we are teaching, but there are bright spots of improvement in each match. Blaise Hoffman, Alex Camerate and Shelby Radloff have really improved and Cameron Bice is coming around. Again, keep improving and by the end of the year they could be competitive in the tournaments,” said Coach Black.

Sophomore Blaise Hoffman led the Redskins with 158-177 for a 335 set, senior Shelby Radloff rolled 175-140 for 315, sophomore Cameron Bice 174-133 for 307 and sophomore Alex Camerato 163-133 for 296.
