Lakers fight valiantly, fall to Tiffin Calvert, 38-6

Despite trailing by just six points at halftime, the Danbury Lakers couldn't withstand Tiffin Calvert's second-half push and fell to the Senecas, 38-6, in the final game of the season.

Quarterback Justin Tibbels, who was filling for an injured Seth Vargo, nearly scored on the last play of the first half, something that would've given Danbury a lead heading into halftime, but Calvert stopped the Lakers short before rebounding to control the second half before pulling away.

On first down at the Senecas 17-yard-line with three seconds remaining, Tibbels ran up the middle on a quarterback draw that fooled the defense and nearly scored before being tackled at the 2-yard-line as time expired, helping Calvert to maintain a 6-0 lead at halftime.

Toledo Christian pulls away from Danbury, 50-6

Momentum swings are critical in sports, and that was never more evident in Danbury's 50-6 loss to Toledo Christian on Thursday night at Start High School.

After the Lakers cut the deficit to 14-6 with 4:40 remaining in the second quarter on a 56-yard touchdown pass from Seth Vargo to John Rhodes, the Eagles responded, scoring on a 92-yard kickoff return by Caleb Wotring to push the lead back to 21-6 and seize back the momentum.
