Immaculate Conception art club starts a new year

For those who love to be creative, one art class a week just isn’t enough. ICS students had a chance to sign up to take their artistic abilities to the next level afterschool in art club. ICS art teacher, Mrs. Joni Hoffman, has offered the afterschool art club for several years. The club allows students to take on projects that need more time than the school day allows. The relaxed setting of an art club also allows them more freedom to be unique and imaginative with their projects.

Hands on learning about weather at ICS

Austin Leis and Morgan Wiechman watch as the wind shifts direction.

Mrs. Penny Boyd took her second graders outside this week to get up close and personal with the science lesson of the past few weeks. For most of the fall season, this group of students has been fully immersed in lessons that teach them about weather.  The class has studied and even made different types of clouds, they have studied weather patterns, the water cycle, and last week the group made their own wind socks.  This was a great project based activity that lead into conversation about relative wind speed and direction.
