The Village Square: accommodating bicycle traffic

Happy Labor Day!  It seems another summer has come and gone.  Where did the time go?  Our local children are back in school and the number of visitors to our neck of the woods will begin to dwindle.  Looking back, I had a very enjoyable summer.  I was fortunate enough to have had the time to attend some of the parades and festivals held in the Village and I look forward to attending those and others in the future.

Marblehead Peninsula Chamber donates back to the community

Marblehead Mayor Jacqueline A. Bird ceremoniously cuts the ribbon in a ceremony held Thursday, August 14, to unveil one of four new trash containers donated to the Village by the Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.  The containers were purchased from one of Marblehead’s newest businesses and chamber member, Jack’s Amish Country Konnection, owned by Connie Thompson and located at 189 South Bridge Road (SR269).

Madyson Ritz named Sight Princess at Lions Perch Festival

The Marblehead Peninsula Lions Club held their 22nd annual Perch Festival on Saturday, August 23, at James Park. The Perch Festival is the primary fundraiser for the Marblehead Peninsula Lions Club. All of the money raised at the event goes back into the Marblehead community and to improving sight and preventing blindness.

The grand marshals of the parade were the Danbury Laker Athletic Booster Association. The athletic boosters organize grade seven through grade twelve athletics and also give scholarships to students. Bill Chapman, president of the boosters, gave a short speech thanking the community and the Lions Club at the event.
