Thompson Lourdes University Presidential Scholarship recipient

Lourdes University would like to recognize Caitlynn Thompson from Marblehead, as a recipient of the Lourdes University Presidential Scholarship this 2014 fall semester. In order to be eligible for the benefits that this competitive, merit-based scholarship offers, a minimal 3.5 cumulative GPA is required, and students must have intentions to pursue a bachelor degree as a full-time student at the Sylvania campus.

The Presidential Scholarship reaps instantaneous rewards for the student, offering up to $8,000 in tuition assistance per academic year. Immediacy doesn't necessarily mean that the rewards are short-lived, as this scholarship is also renewable. Recipients who maintain a 3.0 GPA while enrolled at Lourdes, as well as remain committed to a full-time course load, will be eligible to renew the scholarship over a maximum of four years, earning up to $32,000 in tuition assistance.

Village Square: October 2014

I can’t believe how fast this year has gone by! It seems like it was January just a month ago! As I look back over the past ten months, the thing that stands out in my memory the most is how we all enjoyed the remarkable ice piles by the Marblehead Lighthouse back in March. I’m sure you saw the pictures, as they were all over social media and the internet in general. The pictures, though, were absolutely nothing compared to seeing it first hand up close and personal. I’ll never forget the feeling of standing on the ice, more than one hundred or so feet from shore, and just reveling in the spectacular view.  It made me feel grateful for having the opportunity to live and work in such a beautiful and wonderful village.

Successful State Survey for Jane Baker House

September 2 to September 4, the Ohio Department of Health completed their annual survey of the Jane Baker House at Otterbein North Shore. The thorough multiple day survey was a success for Otterbein as they received positive marks and continue to be a top skilled nursing facility.   

The survey is a CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) Quality Indicator Survey and is comprised of an entrance survey, facility tours, resident observation, clinical record review, preliminary investigations and interviews with residents and families. These surveys look at every aspect of the nursing facility and are of critical importance to the facility and CMS. Other items like observation of dining and kitchen areas, infection control practices, medication administration, dressing change observation, the review of the Medicare Demand Billing process, and staffing are all closely inspected.
