Danbury boys fall to Stritch, 51-29

Despite holding guard Austin Adams to 14 points, the Danbury Lakers fell to Cardinal Stritch, 51-29.

The Lakers fell behind 10-5 after one quarter and trailed 21-8 at halftime. With the Cardinals leading 35-22 after three, they put the game away with a 16-7 advantage in the final period.

Stritch guard Joey Cousino led all scorers with 16 points and Adams finished with 14.

The Lakers were led by freshman John Rhodes, who finished with eight points, and got seven from Zak Miller.

Danbury girls lose first conference game

After beginning the season 5-0 in the conference, the Danbury girls basketball team suffered their first loss in league play, falling to the Toledo Christian Eagles, 48-33.

The Eagles slowly built their lead as the game progressed, holding a 7-4 advantage after one quarter, a 24-9 lead at halftime and a 36-14 lead at the end of three.

Darian Westmeyer led all scorers with 21 points and Lydia Yeager finished with eight.

Alyssa Almendinger had six points to lead the Lakers and Erin Lavelle chipped in with five.

Oak Harbor girls defeat Danbury, 53-27

The Oak Harbor girls jumped out to a 21-8 lead after the first quarter and pushed the advantage to 31-13 at halftime before defeating Danbury, 53-27, in non-conference action last week.

Abbie Gezo led all scorers with 18 points and Maria Boers finished with 17.

The Lakers were led by Erin Lavelle, who scored eight points and Stephanie Kukay, who finished with seven.
