Redskins win over St. Mary CC

Port Clinton Boys tennis played St. Mary CC in an SBC Match at home.  The Redskins won 3 - 2.  This moved PC to 2 – 3 (1-0), and brought SMCC to 4-3 (0-2)

The scores were as follows:

1st Singles:  Noah Cross (PC) def. Taylor Crooks (SM) 6-4, 6-1

2nd Singles:   Jeff Griffin (PC) def. Carlo Mormina (SM) 6-1, 6-1

3rd Singles:  Collin Crooks (SM) def. Steven Kast (PC) 6-0, 6-2

1st Doubles:  Avery Dackermann/Will Mercurio (PC) def. Dario Mormina/Chris Tyler 4 -6, 6-2, 6-3

2nd Doubles:   Clay Parrish/Maxx Weiber (SM) def. Cameron King/Dean Colston (PC) 5-7, 6-2, 6-2

Noah Cross played excellent and beat a very tough opponenet in Taylor.  Jeff Griffin also played great, controlling the match from start to finish against Carlo.  Steve Kast had a tough opponent for his varsity singles debut and lost a tough one.  Avery Dackermann and Will Mercurio made their varsity debut and won a very close and well played match against Dario and Chris.  Dean and Cameron lost a close one today against a strong 2nd doubles team in Clay and Maxx.

Port Clinton boys win against Rossford

Port Clinton Boys tennis played Rossford in a Non-Conference Match at Rossford.  The Redskins won 4 -1. This rose PCs record to 1 – 3.

The scores were as follows:

1st Singles:  Noah Cross (PC) def. Derek Krieger (R) 1 – 6, 6 – 4, 6 - 4
2nd Singles:   Jeff Griffin (PC) def. Logan Fairbanks (R) 6 – 2, 6 - 0
3rd Singles:  Tristan Auxter (PC) def. Logan Ganthier (R) 6 – 4, 6 - 2
1st Doubles:  Julie Hotz/John Hotz (R) def. Steven Kast/Joe Miller (PC) 6 – 0, 6 - 0
2nd Doubles:   Cameron King/Dean Colston (PC) def. Alek Wood/Evan Austin (R) 6 – 2, 4 – 6, 6 – 4

Noah Cross gutted out a very tough match after falling behind early.  Jeff Griffin played excellent and won easily.  Tristan Auxter impressed again at 3rd singles.  1st doubles was a tough match as Joe and Steve stepped up to play a very strong set of Senior Twins.  Cameron King and Dean Colston won their first ever varsity matches in a thrilling back and forth match at 2nd doubles.

Port Clinton boys tennis team falls to Wauseon and Ross

Port Clinton boys tennis team played Wauseon in a non-conference match at home on Thursday.  The Redskins fell 3-2.  This moved Wauseon to 2-1  on the season and Port Clinton to 0-3.

Noah Cross played an excellent opponent and struggled to get things going. Jeff Griffin rallied from an early deficit and used his big forehand to rip off 10 straight games in his win.  Tristan Auxter made his 3rd singles debut and played very well while defeating Levi Rees.  Steven Kast and Joe Miller had to step up to 1st doubles due to some absences and did a commendable job at 1st doubles.  Dean Colston made his varsity debut and Cameron King joined him at 2nd doubles;, they put up a hard fought match, especially considering their lack of playing time together.

The scores were as follows:

1st Singles:  Tyler Shipley (W) def. Noah Cross (PC) 6-1, 6-1
2nd Singles:   Jeff Griffin (PC) def. Alex Wegner (W) 6-3, 6-0
3rd Singles:  Tristan Auxter (PC) def. Levi Rees (W) 6-3, 6-3
1st Doubles:  Zach Spadafore/Fernando Canales (W) def. Steven Kast/Joe Miller (PC) 6-1, 6-1
2nd Doubles:  Coling Tedrow/Derek Zimmerman (W) def. Cameron King/Dean Colston (PC) 6-4, 6-4

The Port Clinton boys tennis team played Fremont Ross on April 9 in a non-conference match at home.  The Redskins fell 5-0.  This moved Fremont to 4-2  on the season and Port Clinton to 0-2. 

Noah Cross played an exciting match before falling in a third set tiebreaker.  Jeff Griffin battled long and hard but was outlasted in the end by Nate Rellinger.  Cameron King continued improving at 3rd singles.  The 1st doubles team played an excellent match after being down big to start.  The 2nd doubles team is still trying to navigate their way during a varsity match.

2nd Singles:  Nate Rellinger (F) def. Jeff Griffin (PC) 6-4, 2-6, 6-3

1st Doubles:  Conner Martin/Dylan WIlley def. Tristan Auxter/Ellis Adolph (PC)  7-5, 6-4
