“Giving Tuesday” with United Way of Ottawa County

You’ve heard of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday? Now Tuesday, Dec. 3, is “Giving Tuesday” in Ottawa County. Giving Tuesday, which follows the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, kicks off the holiday season with a global day dedicated to charitable giving, harnessing the power of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities. Giving Tuesday celebrates and encourages people to give their time, resources, talents and social media voice to a new kind of philanthropy that is about social purpose and collaboration for a better world.

Pop-up Play

On Thursday evening the first pop-up playground appeared at Friendship Park on Perry Street in Port Clinton. Sponsored by United Way, the playground provided raw material such as cardboard boxes, rope, tape and glitter for children to use their imaginations to create works of art and play.

Kids, bring your grownups to adventure playground

Use recycled materials to create your own adventure environments this Thursday, Sept. 26, from 5-8 p.m. at Port Clinton’s first Pop-Up Adventure Playground. The event, sponsored by United Way in Ottawa County, provides kids and families with recycled and other materials for a fun-filled evening of play. Held at Friendship Park on Perry and Madison Streets, the activity is free and open to all youth and their grown-ups.
