Wolcott Keeper’s House summer season

The Wolcott Keeper’s House’s summer season starts Monday, June 10, with Monday through Friday hours from 1-5 p.m. through Aug. 30th.   Trained docents and greeters are on hand to answer questions and to share the history of the 1820’s stone home of the first keeper of the Marblehead Light, Benajah Wolcott.   The house is also open June 8 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Last week new and experienced volunteers gathered at the Wolcott Keeper’s House, 9999 Bayshore Road in Danbury, to get reacquainted and to get ready to greet and inform the thousands of visitors that come throughout the season to enjoy the restored home, the museum, and adjacent historic cemetery, and to learn about life on the Firelands frontier.

Two 5K runs for Stein Hospice

Along with Stein Hospice’s annual 5K run in downtown Sandusky, the agency is sponsoring a second running event this summer at Put-in-Bay.

Sandusky’s Memorial 5K Run will be held Saturday, June 29. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Sandusky Bay Pavilion. Consider forming a team of at least 5 runners and vying for the Coach Chris Smith Team Trophy. Cost is $15, $20 day of the race.

Happy birthday to Mary Alice

Mark Thursday, June 20, down on your calendar for a gala Wine Tasting Kickoff Party for the 6th Annual Catawba/Marblehead Parade of Homes at Mon Ami from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will be several local wine distributors in attendance along with hors d’oeuvres and a band in the Chalet, all for just $10. Tickets are available at The Beacon office or at the Salvation Army Office in the Sutton Center. The actual Parade of Homes will be happening that weekend, June 22 and 23. Another commercial to once again prove that I have a “face for radio” will begin airing soon on Channel 13, the ABC affiliate in Toledo.
