Community Day May 11 at Schedel’s

The Schedel Arboretum & Gardens is hosting a free Community Day and Meet the Artists event on Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. 

The SA&G is a 17 acre garden estate located in Elmore.  The nonprofit arboretum and botanical garden has been open to the public since 1991 and is home to many species of trees, plants and shrubs not commonly seen in this area. The grounds include displays of irises, peonies, roses, lilies, perennial plants and more than 12,000 annual plants and flowers each summer.


Abbi Pitts to attend Ashland


PCHS Senior Abbi Pitts will continue her education and soccer career at Ashland University. Abbi is an accomplished athlete, named All SBC for two sports in one season (soccer & cross country). Her list of athletic accomplishments include:

  • Soccer: 1st Team All SBC 2011; 2012 Honorable Mention All SBC; 2011 & 2012 All District Honorable Mention; Captain 2012
  • Cross Country:1st Team All SBC  2010 & 2011; SBC Champions 2010 & 2011; 2nd Team All SBC 2012; Regional Qualifier 2011 & 2012
  • Track: SBC Champion 4 x 800 2012; Regional Qualifier 2011 & 2012



Kindergarten screening at PC schools

Destiny Wallace, Kindergarten student at Bataan Memorial Primary, completes a lesson on a tablet in Mrs. Morgan Siefke’s classroom. "ScootPad" is an application that tests students to see how they are progressing on kindergarten skills and concepts, important skills such as knowing where the front of the book is, knowing which sounds letters start with and kindergarten math skills like number sense.

Port Clinton City Schools has kindergarten screening for next year on April 22–25. Call 419-732-2102 for an appointment.
