Take advantage of higher IRA contribution limits

 

 

For the first time since 2008, contribution limits have risen for one of the most popular retirement savings vehicles available: the IRA. This means you’ve got a greater opportunity to put more money away for your “golden years.”

Effective Jan. 1, you can now put in up to $5,500 (up from $5,000 in 2012) to a traditional or Roth IRA when you make your 2013 contribution. And if you’re 50 or older, you can put in an additional $1,000 above the new contribution limit.

Free Port Clinton™ brings new free WiFi service to Port Clinton

Local residents, tourists and ferry passengers bound for Put in Bay now have free WiFi service, thanks to a joint-venture between a local media company and digital services firm.

Free Port Clinton™ allows those with smartphones, tablets and laptop computers to log in to the Internet at no cost, through WiFi transmitters and receivers located throughout downtown Port Clinton, the Jet Express Dock, the Bassett’s Knollcrest Plaza at Routes 53 and 163 and the Miller Ferry Dock at the northern tip of Catawba Island.

Catholic Charities offers grants to fight poverty in Northwest Ohio

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Toledo is accepting applications for two types of local grants — Community Development and Economic Development grants — made available through funding from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) annual collection.

Local CCHD grant applications for up to $15,000 are available to 501c3 non-profit organizations that demonstrate grass-roots efforts to break the cycle of poverty by empowering the poor within the 19-county Diocese of Toledo.

The campaign theme for Developmental Disabilities (DD) Awareness Month 2013 is “Look Beyond!” REM Ohio is inviting people to look beyond an individual’s disability to picture that person’s potential, seeing the individual’s unique capabilities and abilities. REM Ohio and other related organizations celebrate DD Awareness Month in March, and invite people to embrace the important message of this year’s theme.
