Erasmo De Leon, 72, of Port Clinton, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center, Port Clinton. Erasmo was born on June 7, 1940 in Pharr, TX, the son of Jose Angel and Marta (Flores) De Leon.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23, in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton. Family prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 24, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton. Interment will be in LaCarpe Cemetery, Lacarne. Fernando B. Lucero, 57, of Port Clinton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, surrounded by his loving family. Fernando was born on Feb. 19, 1955, in Tijuana, the son of Fernando C. and Amelia (Barajas) Lucero.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 21, at The Church of Truth Ministries, 745 S. Lake Rd., Gypsum, with visitation one hour prior from 10-11 a.m. Military honors will be provided by the Marines Forever, Marine Corps group, Sandusky. Well it was inevitable…last week’s 60-degree temperatures were just not going to stick around. It is January along the shores of Lake Erie. Actually, there are some significant silver linings to these cold temperatures. First, the lake is freezing over and frozen water (ice) doesn’t evaporate. One of the primary causes of lower lake levels that cropped up late last summer was the evaporation factor from the mild winter of 2012. The other positive factor is that the extended cold weather just might freeze Lake Erie enough to allow for some ice fishing.
