“We put on a deck so we could have outdoor dining and live bands on the weekends,” said owner Missy Skinner. “And we still have the group of guys at the counter/bar for hot coffee on a nice cold morning.”
Now the restaurant at 113 West Main Street in Marblehead, the former Chandlers’s Warf shopping complex, is getting prepared for the round of private parties the can be scheduled. “We have a private room that can be reserved for 15 to 20 people. Last year the ideas went very well,” she said. In the other location there was no opportunity for that kind of holiday events and parties. “Sometimes the groups ordered off the menu or they can choose from a list of items-all homemade,” Missy said. “Or if the party is large enough, we could shut the restaurant down.”
The Galley has a selection of private label wine from California that is available for gift giving. There is also a small gift shop in the restaurant.
In addition to holiday plans and gift ideas, The Galley can offer seating for 70 people. That includes the 27 seats in the bar where customers can watch TV. “We’ve made it comfortable for all people who gathered at the counter at our other location.”
Homemade desserts and breads are two of the reasons people keep coming back. Monthly menus are still available so customers can plan not to miss their favorite dinners, and there are nightly specials. Take out items are still offered. Other foods such as wraps like the Pepperjack wrap, chicken Caesar wrap, BLT wrap and California Club wrap are also available. And beer, wine, appetizers and a bar menu are available in Freighter’s Lounge. Happy Hour in the bar is from 2-6 p.m. every day.
The restaurant is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. including Sundays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Freighter’s Lounge has extended hours on Friday and Saturday.
