Abesentee ballots available soon

Absentee ballots for the upcoming General Election will be available at the Ottawa County Board of Elections, 8444 W. Ohio 163, Oak Harbor, on March 30. Voters in Ottawa County may vote an absentee ballot at the board office 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from March 30 to Monday, May 3, and also on Saturday, May 1, from 8:30 a.m. until noon. Ballots may also be mailed to the voter.
An application can be printed from the Ottawa County Board of Elections Web site www.co.otttawa.oh.us, voters may call and request an application be mailed to them, or voters may send a letter that contains all of the required information. Law requires that a written application for absentee ballot is needed and must contain the voter’s name, signature, the address at which the voter is registered to vote, date of birth and one of the following: Ohio driver’s license number or voter’s photo identification number; the last four digits of the voter’s social security number; or a copy of a current and valid photo identification, military identification or a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document that shows the voter’s name and current address. Also required are a statement identifying the election for which an absentee ballot is requested and a statement that the person requesting the ballot is a qualified elector.
