| Inaugural “Lake Erie Boat Week” Event Postponed Until 2010 |
|
The inaugural “Lake Erie Boat Week” event, scheduled for September 1-6, 2009, in and around Port Clinton, Ohio, has officially been postponed until the summer of 2010. “There were numerous factors that went into my decision to postpone ‘Lake Erie Boat Week’ this year,” stated Janie Vogel, Event Director for ‘Lake Erie Boat Week.' “I worked tirelessly to try to pull off a one-of-a-kind tourist event for the community and region in general that would have brought approximately $5-$10 million to the local economy, but the support wasn’t there for the 2009 date in Port Clinton.
The state of the economy during this time did not help. I was unbelievably close to pulling this event off after only four months of work on the event in that location, but my original business model for ‘Lake Erie Boat Week’ was being compromised, so the difficult decision had to be made to postpone this event until next year.”Details are already being addressed to continue “Lake Erie Boat Week” in 2010. The www.LakeErieBoatWeek.com official event site will remain active throughout the coming year, with updates on progress for next year’s event – including dates and location - posted soon. Vogel is extremely grateful for the support she received throughout these past months, stating, “I want to thank so many people who got behind my efforts in producing ‘Lake Erie Boat Week,’ and hope they will continue to support me in planning for the 2010 event.”
