St. Boniface Displays Artistic Works
Where could you find the Battle of Iwo Jima, a solar system of t-shirts and a ten-foot high mobile of stars and streamers all in one gymnasium?

All were represented at the St Boniface School Art and Learning Fair. Displayed for parents, parishioners and other art lovers were many of the art and special classroom projects the students completed this school year under the guidance of art teachers Marilyn Alyward and Patti Greenhill. St. Boniface students grin from inside their creation “We Are All Stars”. The artwork ranged from crayon self-portraits done by the kindergarten and first graders to vibrant still life paintings created by each class. Every student in the school contributed to the colorful mobile entitled “We Are All Stars” that streamed from a basketball hoop to the gym floor.

Also displayed were the prize winning safety posters students entered in the 2009 AAA Northwest Ohio Traffic Safety Poster contest.  Competing with students from over eighty schools Samantha Greenhill, Allison Kuhn, Noah Spieldenner and Bob Rosiak all won cash prizes for their creations.

Kindergartener Serena Barnett with her self-portrait.Science and History class work was also represented, including a working volcano and a demonstration of how to grow crystals in your own kitchen. The Extended Studies students presented dioramas of historical events, such as the first day of the Battle of Iwo Jima and models of frontier sod houses.

At the close of the Art and Learning Fair a selection of projects were collected to be enjoyed again while on display this summer at the Ottawa County Fair.
