Port Clinton City Schools Bus Drivers Attend Safety Training
Bus drivers from the Port Clinton City School District joined drivers from approximately 200 Ohio school districts for a special safety training sponsored by the Medina County Educational Service Center.

The training is unique due to the fact that real school buses are used to simulate various scenarios with the help of emergency responders.  Drivers witness live simulations and reactions to various emergency situations such as a tornado, bomb threat, explosion, or an intruder/angry parent forcing their way onto a loaded school bus.  Presenters included William Arrington, General Manager, US Department of Homeland Security – Transportation Security Administration and Charles Hall, President HMS Company, First Observer.

Port Clinton City School District bus drivers learned how to keep students safe in each situation.  The purpose of the training was clearly stated in the program, “As you watch these events unfold, you will realize the important job you do each day.  With that realization you will understand that each of the children on your bus depends on you to keep them safe.”
