Bowling Green State University Director of Athletics Greg Christopher has tabbed Dave Clawson to become the 17th head coach in the history of the BGSU football program. Clawson spent the last season as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Tennessee.
“It is an honor and a thrill to be given this opportunity to coach football at  Bowling Green State University,” said Clawson. “To be named the head coach of a football program that is filled with a rich history is a dream come true.

Port Clinton resident Steve Alexander was inducted into the Ohio Wesleyan University Athletic Hall of Fame during ceremonies at the Homecoming Weekend on November 22.
Alexander, a 1993 Ohio Wesleyan graduate, was an All-American tight end and a 2-year starter during most of the successful 4-year period in Bishop football history. He was an honorable mention All-
American pick by Football Gazette and a first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference choice as a senior after leading the team with 35 catches for 665 yards and 11 TDs.

Sean Mooney, 27, a 1999 graduate of Port Clinton High School who now lives in Cuyahoga Falls and works in Akron, qualified for the Boston Marathon last month at the Columbus Marathon in a time of 3:04:40.  
Sean was a member of the 1998 Cross Country Team that qualified for the State Meet. After high school he decided to keep running as a hobby, participating in a number of 5K runs. He ran his first marathon in Cleveland in 2004 while he was a senior at Kent State University.

Port Clinton resident Chuck Redmond was presented the prestigious Burt Silverman Award from the Toledo District Golf Association at the Annual Meeting at Sylvania Country Club held October 23. The Burt Silverman Memorial Award is presented annually by the Toledo District Golf Association to an individual who has enriched the community through his or her dedication to the game of Golf.
