Danbury Trustees plan fundraising dinner for Newtown

The Danbury Township Trustees, with the assistance of Ken Kostal, will hold a fundraising dinner at Big Bopper’s Restaurant, 7581 East Harbor Road, on Thursday, Feb. 21, from 4 until 8 p.m. Kostal offered to host the dinner to raise funds for the purchase of 26 memorial trees to be planted in Newtown, CT.

The food is being donated by Big Bopper’s, Bassett’s Market and the Canoe Club Wine Bar and includes salad, garlic bread, spaghetti, meatballs and dessert. The cost is $10 per adult and children age five and under are $5. Many gifts have been donated for a raffle that will be held that evening. A fifty-fifty drawing will also be held. Tickets for the raffle can be purchased in advance at Big Bopper’s.

Please join Ken and the trustees on Feb. 21 to help purchase 26 trees for Newtown, a close neighbor to Danbury, CT, for whom Danbury Township was named. Monetary donations for the trees continue to be accepted at both branches of the Marblehead Bank, at the Danbury Township Police Station located at 419 Bridge Road or at Danbury Township Hall, 5972 Port Clinton Eastern Road. Checks should be made payable to The Newtown Community Fund.
