The Ohio Elite All Stars, a local all star cheerleading organization housed at Kid’s World Gymnastics and Cheerleading in Millbury, have national bragging rights. The Ohio Elite All Star teams have won three national titles over a year’s time. In April 2012, the Senior CoEd Level Three cheer team won their division at the US Finals National Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana. Teams from around the country came to Indianapolis to compete for the national title, and the Ohio Elite Senior CoEd team took the crown.

On March 2, 2013, Ohio Elite traveled to Columbus for the Arnold Sports Festival to compete in US Spirit’s Cheer and Dance National Championships. Ohio Elite’s Junior Level Two team, the Sergeants, placed first, earning the national title and the Senior CoEd Level Three team, the Commanders, also placed first, earning an additional national title. On top of this the Commanders won Grand Champion in their division, meaning that the team had the highest score over all other level three teams at the event. Each team also earned a bid to compete in The One: Cheer and Dance Finals in New Orleans.

To earn their winning scores, Ohio Elite performed their routines in front of a panel of judges looking for advanced skills in the areas of stunting, tumbling, pyramids, jumps and dance. Skills were graded upon the level of technique, synchronization, difficulty and motion sharpness. It has been an extremely successful season for the entire Ohio Elite program, which consists of teams ranging in age from four to eighteen. Up next, the teams will travel to Indianapolis to defend their crown in the U.S. Finals on April 13st. Following that, the Commanders will travel to New Orleans to compete for another national title. Ohio Elite All Stars Sergeants and Commanders consist of 38 members from area school districts including Lake, Northwood, Oregon, Genoa, Oak Harbor, Perrysburg, Cardinal Stritch, Toledo and Springfield.

Tryouts for next season’s all star cheer teams for ages four through eighteen are April 27 and 28, and May 4 and 5. Times for tryouts depend on age. Call the gym at 419-836-7598 for more information.
