Sydney Mahaney to compete at National American Miss Pageant

Miss Sydney Mahaney, age 7, recently competed at the state level of the National American Miss Pageant Princess Division. During the 3 day competition held in Columbus, Sydney competed in formal wear, personal introduction, interviews, community involvement and casual wear. She won Overall in the casual wear competition and placed as fourth Runner-Up (out of 146), making the Queen’s Court and receiving an invitation to the National Competition for both events. The National Pageant will be held Thanksgiving week at the Anaheim Marriott in California and includes age categories up to 18 years old.

Sydney’s activities include 4-H Cloverbud, Junior Master Gardner and church youth group. She enjoys playing outside, gardening, reading, playing with her big brother, cooking, learning new things, riding her bike and hula hooping. She is the 2012-2013 Oak Harbor Apple Blossom and is enjoying her reign and traveling to many parades representing her city. Her sponsors for the state pageant were her parents, family, Safari Adventures and Uncle Bill. They are currently seeking sponsors for the national pageant.

The National American Miss pageants are dedicated to celebrating America’s greatness and encouraging its future leaders. Each year the pageant awards thousands in scholarships and prizes to recognize and assist in the development of young women nationwide. All actives are age-appropriate and family oriented. The pageant program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise and presentation, and offers an “All-American spirit of fun for family and friends”. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition and setting and achieving personal goals.
