Kaylee Laubacher, daughter of Jeremy and Laura Laubacher of Oak Harbor, at the fishing derby.
On Sunday, July 20th, at the Ottawa County Fair, the Oak Harbor FFA and Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation District sponsored the annual Kids Fishing Derby. One hundred kids participated this year, some fishing for their first time. The Senior Fair Board stocked the racetrack pond with catfish so that the kids would have a pretty good chance of reeling in the big one. The largest catfish pulled in that morning weighed in at 6 ½ pounds.
The fishing derby organizers would like to thank the following sponsors for donating to provide prizes for the top fishermen: Sprouse Agency, Bench’s Greenhouse, Ag Credit, Luckey Farmers, Louie and Val Damschroder, The Neiderhouse Family, The Rocket Shop, Fenwick Marina, Tank’s Meats, Friendship Food Stores, Radiant Windows, Marco’s Pizza, Batdorff Real Estate, Commodore Perry Federal Credit Union, Jack Bradley Realty and The Gordon Lumber Company.
