Santa stops at Edgewood Manor
On his way to Cancun, Santa Claus made an unscheduled stop at Edgewood Manor Nursing & Rehab Center for their annual Christmas in July celebration. With presents in hand, he was dressed in his summer vacation attire complete with red t-shirt, flowered Bermuda shorts, flip flops, sunglasses and a red sun visor.
Smiling faces surrounded the room as Santa passed out Christmas presents to all who attended. The bags were filled with stuffed animals, beautiful stone cross necklaces, bracelets, multi-colored orchid hair clips, patriotic baseball caps, snacks and cans of root beer. Before leaving to catch his sleigh heading South, Santa posed for pictures with each resident as a momento of the July celebration.
After Santa’s departure, the party began. Song styling’s of the SeaJays echoed through the halls as residents and staff joined together to sing along. Oldies tunes with a few Christmas songs peppered throughout had the audience clapping and chair dancing as it brought back wonderful memories of days gone by.
To bring an end to a fun-filled afternoon, iced sugar cookies and a flavorful punch were passed out to tantalize the tastebuds. “That was a lot of fun! They make everything special for us here,” resident Edna Mackey remarked.
