Dale Gokel, of Edenton, NC, who summers in the area, meets Tuskegee Airman Harold Brown. Gokel took a ride in the P-51 on Wednesday. Said Gokel, “It was amazing, the thrill of a lifetime.” Gokel’s experience was further enhanced when he met Dr. Brown.
Dr. Harold Brown of Catawba, Tuskegee Airman, autographed books about the Red Tail Squadron at the Liberty Aviation Museum. Also, the Commemorative Air Force’s P-51 that is in the Liberty Aviation Museum in Port Clinton is there through Friday.
The P-51 will return to the Erie Ottawa Regional Airport on Aug. 29-Sept.1 along with the travelling “Rise Above” exhibit. At that time Dr. Brown will be available 11 a.m.-4 p.m. each day, and rides on the P-51 will be available.
