Tidying the exterior of the Ottawa County Museum in preparation for the Tall Ships Weekend.
The Ottawa County Museum, 126 W. Third St. in Port Clinton, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30 through Sept. 2.
The museum features a wall mural depicting the battle, artifacts from the Battle of Lake Erie, including a wooden canteen, a cannonball, and art depicting the battle and its aftermath. Upon request, visitors may also view a piece of cloth believed to be a fragment of the flag that was flown from the flagship Lawrence during the battle.
Near the tall ships moored at the Jefferson St. docks, the museum is presenting a photographic exhibit demonstrating maritime aspects of Port Clinton’s history. This exhibit was made possible by a grant from the Ottawa County Community Foundation. Admission to the museum and the exhibit are free and handicap accessible.
