The Oak Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Apple Festival this year on Oct. 12-13. This family oriented festival has over 25,000 visitors attending annually. It is held in downtown Oak Harbor with all activities located within a one block walking area. The crowning of the 2013-2014 Royalty Court is at opening ceremonies on Saturday at 9 a.m., followed by the cutest baby contest.
The Grand Parade is at 2 p.m., with the kiddie tractor pulling contest, bingo at the fire station, and the talent show to round out the day’s entertainment. Saturday night Applepalooza will feature live bands and a beer tent. The Last Born Sons play at 7 p.m., followed by The Junk at 10 p.m. Admission is $5 and specials will be available.
Sunday features a Classic Car Show, 5K Apple Run, 1 Mile Kid’s Run, and local performers. There is no admission fee for the festival and there is a shuttle from the high school parking lot.
