The Lighthouse Festival in Lakeside and Marblehead celebrated the bounty and the beauty of a perfect fall weekend in Ottawa County; the majesty of the Marblehead lighthouse; the talents of local entertainers, cooks, vendors, artisans and re-enactors; the simple pleasures of childhood; and the hospitality and camaraderie of friends and neighbors.
According to Marblehead Chamber of Commerce President Mary Ann Hirsch, “the weekend was a huge success all the way around, for the whole peninsula, festival locations and local businesses.”
Shuttle drivers reported that there were many first-timers to the festival and to Lakeside and Marblehead, and that many of them expressed awe at the event and the locale.
This year there were more thant 100 vendors, more than 60 pumpkin contest entries, and more than 270 children participated in the kids crafts. The popular sailboat rides and hayrides sold out, as did the Men’s Club and Methodist Church food concessions.
