Bradley Temple at Lakeside Chautauqua
Lakeside Chautauqua, a non-profit institution, has joined #GivingTuesday, a national day of giving. Taking place on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, #GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of non-profits, families, businesses and individuals to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.
Coinciding with the Thanksgiving holiday and the kick-off of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday reminds people about the importance of giving by inspiring them to improve their local communities or support important charities and causes.
For the first time, Lakeside Chautauqua will partner with the national #GivingTuesday movement and introduce an initiative that supports children’s programming in the community. All are invited to give a special gift on Tuesday, Dec. 3, towards upgrades to Bradley Temple.
Built in the late 1800s, Bradley Temple is a facility dedicated to children’s programing. After 126 years, children still gather for music education, fellowship, worship, puppet shows, bicycle safety and crafts.
Over the years, the huge volume of children’s programs have put wear and tear on the building and the community support from #GivingTuesday will enhance this historic structure. The repairs needed include a new foundation, electrical upgrades and interior improvements.
A generous Lakeside Chautauqua family has already stepped forward with a matching gift challenge for the community. Each dollar given to the #GivingTuesday Bradley Temple Initiative will be matched, up to $25,000.
Lakeside Chautauqua encourages local non-profits, families, businesses and individuals to join the movement. Currently, more than 2,600 corporate and non-profit organizations have committed to participating in this year’s initiative.
