The outpouring of community support was overwhelming for Lakeside Chautauqua’s first #Giving Tuesday event. The event on Dec. 3 raised $105,000. In November, Lakeside Chautauqua introduced stakeholders to #Giving Tuesday, a national day of giving encouraging individuals and families to celebrate generosity in their community and inspiring donors to give back to in unique ways.
Donations were received from Ireland and across 14 states and 60 Ohio cities; a total of 148 gifts were received in support of Lakeside Chautauqua’s mission. Money was raised towards the restoration of Bradley Temple and children’s programming improvements, Lakeside Chautauqua Endowment, Lakeside Symphony Orchestra, recreational programming and facilities, religious life programming, youth group housing and Ohio’s Most Beautiful Mile beautification project. Gifts were also made in honor and memory of loved ones.
Due to the community’s generosity, Lakeside Chautauqua has raised more than $500,000 to date for the Lakeside Fund. While additional funds still must be raised, Lakeside is well on its way to achieving a record annual fund goal of $700,000 in 2013. The Lakeside Fund annual giving campaign bridges the gap between earned income and the actual cost of producing our signature Chautauqua program, maintaining our beautiful grounds and preserving our historic structures.
