First place in the OSS calendar contest from Port Clinton Middle School Courtney Sayre
Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca County art students in 7th-12th grade had the opportunity to participate in the OSS Solid Waste District’s Calendar Design Contest. Students were encouraged to create a design with a recycling or litter prevention theme to be included in a 2014 Calendar created by the district.
Entries received were judged by the Community Arts Council in Port Clinton. Twelve designs were selected to be displayed in the calendar. The calendars were distributed to all of the schools and county offices in each of the three counties. Winning designs at the Middle School level were submitted by Jessica Cable, Art Teacher at Genoa Middle School: Alexis Bryer, first place, and Samantha Partin, second place.

The winners received a book bag made from recycled plastic water bottles and yogurt containers and were filled with a variety of art supplies. In addition, the District framed the winner’s original artwork in a recycled content frame. The District would like to congratulate all of the winners and thank all students who participated in the contest.
