Danbury Township Trustees — March meeting

At the regular meeting of the Danbury Township Trustees held March 14, the following business was conducted:
• Trustees conducted the annual meeting with both fire departments.
• Trustees authorized a contribution of $7,000 to the Ottawa County Marine Patrol.

• Charles Scott reported on quotes for repairing the basement at the Keeper’s House. Mainly Masonry provided the lowest quote at $1,800 and was authorized to perform the repairs. Road Superintendent Brett Waldron reported a substantial ditch cleaning job was completed on Englebeck Road, the department set-up and disassembled voting booths for the primary election, brush cutting and chipping was done after the windstorm, two snowstorms were dealt with, the annual road tour with the county engineer was conducted, delivery was taken on the new Ford F450 and the department is preparing the parks, softball fields and stoning the parking lots where needed.
• Trustees authorized Judco to outfit the Ford F450 at a cost of $14,330.
• Police Chief Michael Meisler reported 318 incidents in February and 125 to date in March. The new police cruiser has been ordered.
• Trustees approved expenses for Safety Coordinator Deb Biro to attend the Bureau of Worker’s Compensation Safety Congress in Columbus.
• Zoning Inspector Kathryn Dale reported 11 permits were issued to date in March. The Zoning Commission met to discuss potential text amendments. The BZA will not meet during March due to no hearings being scheduled. Dale is continuing to research options for the township website and usage of Clearzoning documents. She was invited to and did attend the Lakeside Design Review Board meeting. She also reported on the progress of several zoning violations and complaints.
• Fiscal Officer Shelley Seamon presented a detailed fiscal report and discussed her attendance at a local government officials’ conference and a public officials’ conference.
• Trustees approved February financials, the bank reconciliation and bills in the amount of $70,289.97.
• Trustees approved a donation of $3,250 to the Ottawa County Drug Task Force.
• Trustees agreed that projects for Danbury students should include park cleanup.
• Trustees approved renewal of the health and dental insurance programs.
• Trustees agreed that a Geocache should not be placed at township hall due to safety consideration with clean-up weeks and large truck traffic.
• Trustees approved contracting with Kathy Jo Schweizer for record retention assistance.
• Trustees approved content of the spring newsletter.
