Port Clinton and VFW resolve water billing dispute

The City of Port Clinton and the Homer D. Gardner VFW Post 2480 resolved their differences on Tuesday concerning a water billing dispute.

Representatives of the City and the VFW met with an Administrative Hearing Officer, and after discussions with the hearing officer, it was agreed that the prior account credit granted to the VFW by the City would continue to be applied against its water account and that the City would issue a refund adjustment to the VFW in the amount of $2,500.00.

Richard Ellis, Commander of the Homer D. Gardner VFW Post 2480, said, "The VFW appreciates the efforts of the City in resolving the dispute, and the members of the VFW look forward to continuing to work hand-in-hand with the City on community projects and Veteran's celebrations. We believe the resolution of this matter is fair and equitable to both the City and the VFW."

City Safety Service Director Tracy Colston said, "I appreciate the cooperation of the VFW in resolving this dispute, and the resolution is fair to the VFW and the City."
