Been wondering what the new little structure on the north side of Lakeview Park is? No, it’s not a birdhouse; it’s a library! A Little Free Library sponsored by the Friends of the Park organization. A Little Free Library is a “Take a Book/Leave a Book gathering place where people can share their favorite literature and stories. Essentially, it is a box full of books that anyone may visit and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share.
The Little Free Library movement was started in Wisconsin in 2009, and there are now libraries in every state and 10 countries.
“The library will contain a mix of adult and children’s literature, fiction and non-fiction,” says Library steward, Stephanie Kyle, “and will be for residents and visitors alike to use and enjoy.”
The Friends invite everyone to stop by and check out the library and enjoy the beauty of the spring garden.
