Dr. Kurt Borows will be celebrating his fiftieth year as a pastor on Sunday, June 22, with his congregation at Resurrection Lutheran Church on Catawba at 9 a.m. Dr. Borows has been pastor of Resurrection Lutheran Church; including St. Paul Slovak, Peace, St. Thomas, Firelands, Lakeside and St. James; since January 1, 1978. Prior, he had served in Detroit, MI, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Toledo, OH, at St. James Lutheran Church, and Roseville, MI, at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Dr. Borows completed his internship under Pastor Harold Billnitzer at Victory Lutheran Church.
God has blessed Dr. Borows with his wife, Linda, three children, and five grandchildren.
At the 9 a.m. service on Sunday, June 22, Dr. Borows will sit with his congregation as Pastor Lisa Peterson, a member of RLC and former pastor of Peace Lutheran), Pastor Janine Dress (who was ordained at RLC), Rev. Bob Butcher, and Pastor Mark Chavez of NALC (North American Lutheran Church) conduct service. After service, the congregation will gather at Catawba Island Club for a brunch where members, past and present, family and friends will be present. Dr. Borows will also be honored at a national conference in South Carolina in July.
Dr. Borows has written articles for The Beacon and the News Herald during his time as pastor of RLC. He written the book Wages of Sin, Gifts of God: Lent and Easter sermons based on Romans 6:23.
