American Red Cross of Ottawa County’s Club Red held the 8th Annual “Sherry & Chocolates” event recently at the home of Eric and Peggy Rolf on Catawba Island. The annual membership drive event entertained 90 guests and was hosted by Club Red founder Cindy Amerine. The evening featured a tour of Eagle’s Ridge, the picturesque Rolf home. Guests also enjoyed music played by local pianist, Greg Fox.

Club Red Chair Lynn Majce and Co-Chair Danis Putzbach shared information about the ladies group and its mission to educate the public of the many Red Cross programs and services offered locally and across the country.  Many Club Red members have taken volunteer training courses and support our Armed Forces personnel and their families, assist in disaster and emergency relief, health and safety training, community blood drives and sit on local and regional Red Cross boards.

The event also heralded the upcoming “Bavarian Summer Fest - Willkommen” Club Red Gala. The event Chair, Carol Schemmer, and Co-Chair, Barbara Gravengaard, reported that tickets are now on sale and going fast. The gala, which includes dinner and auctions, will be held Friday, July 18, at 6 p.m. at the Catawba Island Club. The evening’s Bavarian Garden will feature the Great Lakes Brewing Company and German vintner, Max Ferd Richter.  Musical entertainment will be provided by the Edelweiss Combo of Cleveland.  Tickets are $110 for this traditionally sold-out affair and seating is limited. Ticket requests can be made by contacting the American Red Cross of Ottawa County at 419-734-1100 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
