The largest single event to raise money for our local American Cancer of Northwest Ohio is underway. Save the Date for August 9, to join Ottawa County at the Duck Drop and Chemo Crawl.
The Duck Drop will take place at 11 a.m. at the Monsoon Lagoon. Each year over 800 ducks race around the lazy river to the finish line. Every duck ticket purchased allows your duck to compete. With each $10 purchase, participants can chose either a one day waterpark pass to Monsoon Lagoon or a round trip ferry ticket to Put-in-Bay on the Miller Boat Line. Monsoon and Miller Boat Line have graciously donated these tickets in an effort to help raise money for cancer. Check the tickets for exclusions. These are good for the 2014 season only.
Duck Tickets can be purchased at the OurGuest Inn and Suites located at 220 East Perry Street and 2039 E. Harbor Rd. or Mutach’s Market in Danbury on North Shore Blvd. Also new this year, Relay Teams from around the county are selling tickets. The Grand Prize is $700, second prize is $500 and the third is $300 of donated gift certificates from around our area. This is a win-win! Join us and purchase your Duck Tickets now. Tickets are limited so don’t wait. For more information call 419-734-7111. Winner does not need to be present to win.
The 6th annual Chemo Crawl will begin at 3 p.m. August 9 at the OurGuest Inn and Suites, 220 E. Perry Street. Join survivors and friends as they “crawl” through Port Clinton on this famous fund raising event. This year is the biggest yet with 8 participants competing to see who can raise the most money for the American Cancer Society. Included are the OurGuest Inn & Suites, The Bait House, McCarthy’s, Slater’s Madison Street Pub, Rosie’s Bar & Grill, the Jet Express Bar, Mango Mama’s and new this year, PJ’s Bar and Grill and Cielo Grande Tapas Sports Bar. Each pub and eatery will feature food and drink specials that benefit the cause. A Chemo Card is punched at each establishment and all those completing the crawl are eligible for the Grand Prize Package which includes a stay in Downtown Port Clinton, gift certificates and Jet Express tickets. Crawlers do not need to drink to participate. Many “crawl” and enjoy the food and excitement of seeing the many new and established restaurants in Port Clinton.
The cost of a Chemo Card is $10 with all proceeds going to cancer and they are available now at the OurGuest Inn and Suites at 220 E. Perry St. next to Wendy’s. T-shirts are optional and will be available after July 10. The cost is $15. Join us on Facebook or our website at pcchemocrawl.com and let’s get the momentum going.
