Joyful Connections and Ottawa County CASA will be hosting the second annual Rally for the Kids event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 19, in Bassett’s Market parking lot at the corner of Ohio 163 and 53.
Activities are being planned including a Sidewalk Sale where anyone and everyone can rent table space and sell their wares. This is a cross between a flea market, garage sale, art sale and vendor sale. An 8-foot table is $25; space for an additional table is only $10.
The second annual 5k run-walk, presented by Magruder Hospital’s Lake Erie Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, will begin the day at 10 a.m. with prizes for the top male and female finishers in the adult and child categories. The cost to participate is $20 for adults, $10 for children under 13 and three- to five-member teams can participate for $50. Sponsorships are being sought for the race from local businesses.
This year, there will be a first-ever Cornhole Tournament with cash prizes and gift certificates for the top two teams. Registration begins at 11 a.m.
Once again, Bassett’s Market is sponsoring a Grocery Shopping Spree. Tickets are $5 and the winning ticket will be drawn at the event for a 3-minute shopping spree. Last year’s winner took home more than $350 worth of groceries.
Kids activities are being planned for the event, as well as food and plenty of fun. There will also be a Basket Raffle of items generously donated by local businesses. All proceeds from the Rally for the Kids event will benefit Joyful Connections and Ottawa County CASA, two local non-profit organizations that are helping serve children in crisis in Ottawa County.
