Community partnerships program at Ida Rupp

Ida Rupp Public Library will present a very special program at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Ottawa County United Way Director Chris Galvin will lead a workshop about initiating and maintaining community partnerships.  We know that community partnerships increase community awareness, provide non-monetary support and assist in fundraising.  Partners share your interest in community improvements and provide essential skills.  Working together guarantees results.

A free library card is your ticket to back-to-school savings

September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the Ida Rupp Public Library joins with the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to make sure that students have the most import school supply of all, a free library card. Resources at the Ida Rupp Public Library in Port Clinton are available to anyone who has a library card.

Perry’s Victory at Ida Rupp

Jeff Helmer, Park Ranger at Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial on South Bass Island, will be at the Ida Rupp Public Library on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Mr. Helmer will be speaking at 7 p.m. 

September 10 is the 200th Anniversary of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s victory over the British fleet in the Battle of Lake Erie. Mr. Helmer will offer a Power Point presentation detailing the events leading up to the battle and the effects that Perry’s victory had regarding U.S. control of the Great Lakes and its expansion west of Ohio.
