Lighthouse festooned for holiday season

The Marblehead Lighthouse and Keeper’s House are festively decked out in pine garlands and red bows, ready for the holiday season. The Lady on the Lake sports two LED circles, having had her 150-watt halogen bulb and green lens cover replaced late last spring. Sighted from more than seven miles away, her new light is also green but only uses 20-watts of electricity.  It has a battery backup in case of power failure.

Volunteer keepers needed for Marblehead Lighthouse and Museum

If you love Ohio history and enjoy an afternoon along Lake Erie, consider volunteering next year at the Marblehead Lighthouse State Park.  

Built in 1821, Marblehead Lighthouse is the oldest in continuous operation on any of the Great Lakes. More than 45,000 visitors tour the lighthouse and museum annually. The facilities are jointly managed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Marblehead Lighthouse Historical Society.
