Port Clinton resident is a Spark for area families

A native of Oak Harbor, now a Port Clinton resident, Ken Sayre is recipient of a Spark award at WSOS.

Sayre is a family advocate currently working in the Pathways to Fatherhood Program at WSOS Community Action Agency. He was hired two years ago to provide services to veterans in the four-county area of Wood, Sandusky, Ottawa and Seneca counties in the Ohio VETS program. That program earned a Best Practice award in January from the Ohio Association of Community Action Agencies.

Sayre was nominated for demonstrating leadership, quality, service, finance and innovation, five of the five pillars of excellence, criteria for the award. He demonstrated leadership by providing outstanding services to participants by helping them to overcome barriers and secure employment. He was innovative in utilizing key resources in the community for veterans and helping them to secure jobs through the On-the-Job Training (OJT) contracts WSOS has with employers.

Sayres was cited in his nomination as a great steward of the community, a professional resource for others and a team player within the department.
