WSOS’s Carte reappointed to national coalition

WSOS Development Specialist Kerrie Carte will serve a second year on the National Skills Coalition’s Leadership Council to represent Ohio. She was reappointed for a second term on the board, has been involved with the coalition since 2008 and joined the Leadership Council in 2012.

Carte, a resident of Oak Harbor, is currently serving on the Ohio Workforce Coalition, the Board of Directors of the Ohio Economic Development Association and the Advocates for Ohio’s Future-Workforce Committee. She has worked at WSOS for the past 11 years.

WSOS offers help for returning veterans

Ken Sayre of WSOS Veterans Program

Ken Sayre served 22 years in the U.S. Navy. After he retired, he worked in the corporate sector for a time, then came to the realization that he really wanted to work with veterans. In 2012, he came to WSOS Community Action to work with the veterans program.

In a meeting with Director Roger Fisher, they decided what was most needed was employment and training for returning veterans, including the associated skills of work readiness, interview techniques, how to build a resume, how to dress for success and how to budget.
